Late nights and PC

I occasionally stop knitting and take a break to sit and trawl websites (parenting forums, eBay, wool/ yarm stores).

Sarah (Styles) and I have not met in real life yet but keep in contact via messenger, phone and text. Sarah has started a blog too. I was looking at some koolaid shorties of hers so I can get the same flavours!

Sarah Styles' Blog

This is some of the Uruguay kettled dyed yarn I got last week knitted up. It is so soft, it varies in thickness but is nice yarn to work with.

These colours remind me of liquorice allsorts:

More Samples - I am now happier!

I have been playing around with some more ideas, yarn combos - the restriction really is simply having enough yarn to complete a pair of large longies and not having enough of one specific yarn alone; there is of course the option to order some more yarn if customer wants to of course!

I like both of these combos - I am getting interesting effect striping two diffent variegated yarns that tone - we have to different combos here in swatch all DK yarn pure wool - left there is a mosaic yarn - navy, purple, old gold, cyclamen pink and a little brown, striped with a Natural Dye Studio yarn called Aztec Rouge (two colours space dyed - a russety earthy pink and a earthy pink)

right here we have the aztec rouge again but striped with a spaced dyed yarn called sugar rainbow - yellow, pink, apple green, light blue, etc.

I like both combos the one on the left is more vibrant and one on right more restful colours. Waiting to see what Zoe says.

I cannot believe how long I spent playing with paintshop pro last night when I was meant to be knitting up a stripe sample for Zoe.
I was trying to set up a card to print via vista site but for now have decided to print my own. I want to put some cards in with orders so that people can pass on when they get asked where to get our wool covers. This is what I ended up with using Paula's two beautiful children modelling my Koolaid shorties! I have blotted out some contact details on this picture.

I did get the knitting done - another tv and knitting late night! I think I finally switched light off about 3am (was wide awake til the end for some reason)

I am not sure if I like the combo - the variegated has sections of both plain colours through it but think the apricot is a bit too vibrant compared to the more muted buttermilk and the sugar rainbow. I have emailed to Zoe and she is happy with it but I am gogi to knit her up another colour combo for her to see.

thanks to Paula

Paula, one of our customers took a gorgeous picture of her children wearing our kool aid dyed shorties and I loved it so much I asked if we could use for the website.

I so want to go on some sort of photo editing course so I learn to do these things. Anyway Paula kindly did some clever stuff to 'cut out' the children and I have added the website logo thing at the bottom. Maybe someone can help me make a better job of this!

Wool Shorties for Natasha

I made this pair for Imade who is the beautiful daughter of Natasha. IyeImade is another member of ukparents who decided to start her own cloth nappy forum

These are a lovely soft double knit merino yarn variegated in lots of shades including wine. I need to take another picture. Stuart (husband) has got a fancy digital camera and he tells me it was something to do with ISO settings - this picture does not look true to the colours.

Having a Longie Week - Blue Camo

These are the twentieth pair of longies I have made - phewwww! I have enough yarn left from these to make one more pair of longies. I have loved this yarn to work with and several of my friends have had shorties and crop pants made from this for their boys. These are now on the website under in stock longies.

I had fun making this next pair too, they are striped with blue camo and a silver grey merino aran my 21st pair of longies and my first time of making icord. I don't like knitting i-cord, I find it mind numbingly tedious so I indulged last week by buying an icord mill from www.dragonyarns.com. It was a bit fiddly to use to start with but now have got the hang of it - you just need to watch the tension of the yarn as it feeds in and I prefer to hold and gently pull on the cord as it emerges rather than use the weight that comes with it. These are the smallest pair I have ever produced awwwww so sweet. - picture to come

Finished Custom Longies

Zoe loved these and said lots of people admired them when her little one went to a birthday party.

Latest knitting project

I am currently working on a custom order for a pair of longies. These are being made using Calana hand dyed yarn in turquoise and pink.

The lady placed order after seeing these on the cloth forum on www.ukparents.co.uk when a happy customer posted a picture.
